ABSTRACT

Twenty feet [sixteen patients] with mild to moderate hallux valgus were treated at Al-Azhar University Hospitals between July 1999 to July 2001 by using distal Chevron osteotomy of the first metatarsal. Fourteen patients were female [18 feet] and 2 patients were male, the patient age ranged from 28-50 years old with an average 33 years, all were healthy, non of them had a systemic disease such as diabetes or local vascular disease. The duration of follow up ranged from 60-32 months [average 36 months]. The correction was satisfactory in 17 feet [85%], arthrosis of the first metatarsophalengeal joint was noticed in two feet [10%] and in one foot [5%] the deformity was under correction
